We were looking to replace our Bissell CleanView II Junk-uum which couldn't even pick up stray grass blades or balls of cat fur. We read reports for several brands of cleaners including the Eureka 4870SZ, our previous was a Eureka Boss (several models ago). Just finished our first vacuuming with this unit. Like going from the darkest cavern to bright light. The brush is strongly powered if you choose - so strong it will pull the vacuum forward. Returning the vacuum body to upright position shuts off the brush action - a nice feature.
Caution, this unit is fairly heavy and bulky.
Cons: the powered upholstery/stair appliance easily pops out of its cradle. The cord catch opening to cinch up the cord after vacuuming will need to be enlarged as it does not slip over the cord. The light is right sided..not full width of the vacuum. Doesn't have a strong edge cleaner.
We were looking to buy the 4870SZ as it had a higher star rating but are very pleased with this unit. Note: we bought ours from a chain store because of "special" pricing. If you are shopping for a good strong vacuum to clean up the house after your pets (ours is a very furry long haired cat) this unit or its cousin is the one to get. Highly recommended!
